New HQ opens for Home Care Assistance with SBA 504 loan From Centier Bank and Indiana Statewide CDC
Home Care Assistance satisfied its need for on-site training space when it moved into its new headquarters recently in Carmel (at 716 Adams Street, Unit C).

The six-year-old company trains and manages Certified Caregivers, Home Health Assistants and Certified Nurse Aides who provide in-home senior care, says President Michael Rothenberger. "We were in leased space but our biggest need was for a confer-ence/training room. We purchased an office condo that has the space we needed to pro-vide face-to-face training that we couldn't before."

Home Care Assistance bought the building with a loan from the U.S. Small Busi-ness Administration 504 program through Centier Bank and Indiana Statewide Certified Development Corporation.

Indiana Statewide CDC works with local Indiana lenders to issue SBA 504 loans to help owners of expanding or startup small businesses buy real estate, buildings and equip-ment. SBA 504 loans provide small companies favorable financing terms similar to those available to large companies in conventional loans.

Rothenberger says, "The low, guaranteed interest rate really helps us."

Jon Walker of Centier Bank says, "We discussed the options of conventional financ-ing and the SBA 504 program and decided the 504 features were a good fit. Their compa-ny, Home Care Assistance, is able to retain more capital which is vital to growth of opera-tions. They also locked in a long-term fixed rate for a portion of the funding. Centier Bank gains a great client relationship with a growing company that actively gives back to the community."

Home Care Assistance employs about 110 caregivers and five office staff members. Clients can be provided care 24/7 or as little as four hours every day or so. Rothenberger says, "Most people want to stay in their homes as long as possible. Our aim is to allow our clients to age in place at various levels of need. We do this by providing balanced care that includes emotional, spiritual and social support as well as meeting physical needs."
